I do my best to ignore that Elon even EXISTS so I couldn’t stomach reading the book but it does sound like a really important one!

People viewed Elon as a counter-tyrant, after "Who Killed the Electric Car?" https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0489037/ alerted us to a greater degree of entrenchment of fossil fuels than we'd been aware of, and this Silicon Valley guy made EVs happen from California.
Your conclusion that Musk is racist because he was raised in South Africa and that the shape of his truck is similar to South African Army vehicles is proof of anything but your guest’s suspect analysis is ridiculous. Even if he’s correct, and even though I also detest Musk. his rationale is nonsense.
If your generation of children fails to understand that making riches is no measure of anything but greed, If you think the coming economic disruption will leave you unscathed and that Elon is either the cause or the solution then you are allowing this guy to get inside your head.
Just avoid him. Do not lionize him. But this analysis is of no value to understanding anything but the author’s fears.
