Kaiser mental health workers have been striking for more time with patients, better pay, and to fight algorithmic triage—healthcare automation that puts patients at risk.
thank you for covering this. so important. kaiser does real harm by pretending to offer mental healthcare and then failing and failing and failing people
I think many people would be tempted to say, "What's Kaiser supposed to do? Spend more money on it and take a loss?" In an ethical society, the answer is yes. Helping people comes at a cost, and no cost is too high. Especially when you have 70bn in reserve
It appears we're encountering here the same or similar type of thinking that leads to "government by Grok," as you termed it. This approach emphasizes replacing humans, including experts, rather than assisting or augmenting them. In my experience, it is also often based on the misguided belief in the supremacy of economic efficiency.
This is why it is worth supporting and subscribing. We know the current system is broken from a social-human perspective. But we need specific, documented evidence to hold up a mirror to the "innovators/disruptors" and say that this is what you are doing. This is a VUCA world, but not the useless original definition of VUCA. The VUCA we face is Vicious Unregulated Capital Aggression against what a society focussed on progress for all should be. Kudos to you for making the resistance visible and kudos to all who, like these therapists, refuse to accept the degradation of their work under the mantra of "efficiency" (i.e. profit to capital).

surreal —in the history of medical care, have therapists have had to go on a HUNGER STRIKE?? thank you for covering.
Yeah thanks for bringing attention to this Brian. This is sickening.
“We want more time to be with our patients”. And a company with $70bn in reserves trying to save costs. What the heck.
