So grim that this is exactly what the billionaire bastards want for humanity. When financialisation rules there is no room for a decent life only the toxic surveillance of every moment. A curse on their psychopathic existence. Small acts of kindness show the hollowness of great wealth. Great story.

glad you dug it Ken. maybe should've put a disclaimer up top, I am realizing now.

"Hard to read" is good right now.

Also: would be thrilled to see more Terraform pieces revived. Writing for y'all was a pleasure. ♥️

So good! I'm ordering a copy of Terraform. I had no idea Vice used to publish sci-fi!

Very much grateful for you sharing this piece, please keep it coming. Going to share it far and wide with my community. This stuff is so close to life I wouldn't even call it fiction :(

Brian Merchant's avatar

Yes, more please. It’s hard seeing how much that’s going down now was predictable back then, knowing how little was done to prevent it. But it does remind me of what i have to resist.

Karen Mardahl's avatar

Horribly excellent writing, if I can put it that way! I fear it is incorrect calling this fiction. :( Still, please give us more. Hammers up!

Great piece of writing by Tim. I love Infinite Detail, it's partially set in the city I live in the suburbs of which made reading it really uncomfortable. Tim also very kindly sent me a PDF of the whole book after the physical copy I'd bought to read on holiday had a printing error which meant it was missing 90 pages half way through. Very cool of him
